On My Wrist

In 2011(? don't quote me on that, I'm guesstimating) Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller coined the term 'arm party' to describe the insane, eclectic collection of accessories attached to her forearm on any given day. Even though the idea has been partly abandoned by Medine (p.s., her blog is hilarious and her writing makes me feel like she's my friend even though we live 3000 miles apart and she has no idea I exist. She's cool, I want to be like her, therefore she's my fantasy friend.), the phrase is used by pretty much everyone now, to describe any collection of bracelets etc. that appear on your arm, unless super delicate. I don't fall into the category of 'delicate' arm decor, so here's my arm party on any given Saturday (or Wednesday. or Sunday. You get the idea).

It's nothing exciting, but I like the double length strap on the watch because it makes it a little more interesting, and means that if I'm feeling lazy I still get the odd comfort of their being something definite around my wrist. The others all have sentimental value as gifts, from my Mum and from a friend from Bethlehem. We made several of the pebble bracelets, picking the thin flat pebbles from (I think) Pembrokeshire beaches that were the right kind to bore through with some kind of needle and threading them on with various beads, but I think this might be the only one left now. Every now and again I see if I can find more pebbles, but I don't seem the knack for picking the right ones.
